New member and future Z32 owner (hopefully)...

First of I want to say hello to all the fellow Z car enthusiasts! I have also been a huge fan of the 300zx (z32) ever since I laid my eyes on it. In my opinion they outclass every car in its class: 3000gt, RX7, Supra, Stealth, etc... I'm currently deployed but I've doing a lot of searching for my potential future car. My question is, is $8000 a decent deal for? :

-91 TT (auto) w/ 165,000 mi
-new tranny and engine
-Upgraded Z1 63mm turbos
-3'' turbo back exhaust
-05 factory 350 rims
-clean body and interior

Obviously I'm going to ask for some proof on the engine, tranny etc but if it's legit I don't even mind it being automatic. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I was searching for mine I came across many clean STOCK N/A Z32s asking around that price in my area. If it was a manual and I had the cash and it was really all the guy's saying, I would buy it. I'd really have to think about it since it's auto though since I don't know how much power it's got with those upgrades and if that transmission would be able to handle said upgrades. Try to find out exactly why the trans and engine were replaced and maybe that'll help you out with your decision.

Eight is a little Much, UNLESS it's Clean..

First Time I drove a 300 was in the Dark, ( My Sons Car ) at 4 Or so in the Morning.. and I was Wondering why my Son had Purchased an Automatic .. Then I realised, I WAS Shifting the Car.. It's a Stick.. In the Dark, Sleepy, and the Car SOOO Comfortable to Drive.. it just Felt Natural in the Shifting.

All this is to say..

Go for a Stick.. Comfortable.. and more Sporty..

Welcome.. Be sure to post Pictures..

The auto/manual thing is totally dependent on the person. I think if I was going to be driving every day in heavy traffic I would definitely consider an automatic. If on top of that I planned on never taking it to a track or strip, I definitely would get an automatic. Question: have you ever owned/do you own a manual car? Automatic? Go for whichever one you've preferred in the past.

I currently own an automatic, never "owned" a manual. Its been some time since I drove a manual but I have no doubt that I can pull it off. Like you said, I really don't plan on taking the car to a track. The automatic is still quick so I'm leaning more towards that.

Hold out for a 5 speed.

And the 300zx is also fairly less expensive than the FD3S, and a LOT less expensive than a Supra, all came with twin turbo (on the turbo models, mind you), and the 300zx had about 15-20hp more from the factory.

However, just IMO (As far as reliability and power posibillities):
13BREW < VG30DETT < 2JZGTE

get a standard tranny bro

my ride is all done now have a look its love a first sight. it took 5 yrs to build the way I wanted it. mines got 46000kms on it lots of boost left in her. remember going fast costs lots. save your money and get what you really want. automatics suck thats why there cheaper.

I took a leap of faith and went with the automatic. I'm happy, and the car still hauls ***. I can always do a 5sp conversion down the road if I want to but for now my focus is on other areas.
