Hi y'all. Thanks for havin me on this great forum.
Sooooooo, a month ago I bought another Z, this is a red 90 5spd TT, with 021718 on the odometer and everything looks stock. I really didn't care bout much on this car since it had a small tree growing through the engine and up through the battery cowling thingie. The body is in great shape and I usually rebuild the motors anyways, so "come on, lets go." Well, the motor is in pieces now and I'm confused about a bunch of things
As I got deeper and deeper in this motor, I found loose bolts here and there but the motor looks almost brand new. The heads, valves, cams, timing belt, rollers, tensioner, HLAs, and even the cylinders look great, except for a little carbon. I kinda don't want to go further into this motor but I found three different kind of spark plugs, and five open injectors, no clutch pressure plate, no exhaust piping for mufflers, and I think I need to replace the harness. I'm guessing the previous guys tried a rebuild then threw things back together
I need to get some parts and don't know which way to go. I don't think I want 600HP, but if I do, then I'll have to go deeper in the motor replacing bearings, pistons, etc, and $2500 just for turbos?!?!?!?! DAYUM!!!!! The current stock turbos have no play at all and spin freely. There were quite a few dead ants, spiders and stuff past the impellers on the intake side on both turbos so it as quite a Wild Kingdom in there.
I think I saw where the stock 370CC injectors will get me a tad less than 400HP with a few mods (JWT ECU mod), but I may want to go to the 555CC for future mods. Has anyone out there slowly upgraded their Z while weekend driving? The downpipes have clean cats but I can gut them later after the AIV/HICAS deletes.
This car has so many options, totally unlike my first 90 NA 5spd (white in the pics), where things were simple and cheap some 10 years ago. The EGR and coolant lines are gone and I'll do a oil catch can later on. Since it is winter here in Dallas, I'll slowly get her goin before someone turns on the heat in March.
Anyways, HELP!!, and thanks for helping me so far
Oh wait, I'll attach my pics but I'm sure I'll do it wrong.
