Need some help with my new Z
Hi, I introduced myself a few weeks ago, and now I have some questions/problems that I could use some help on. I just paid $500 for a 120k service and $109 for all new drive belts. Timing belt has already been changed before I bought the car(dealership said it has a newer 105k belt that did not come factory on the car)so, I dont think I need to worry about the belt. Now for the few problems I need help with. Sometimes when I go in reverse or just let the car Idle, there is a rattling coming from under the car. It sounds like a loose heat shield on the exhaust but I dont know for sure. 2nd, when I turn left or right slowly there is a grinding sound that comes from the engine area. It will also grind even worse if say I am driving normal on a road and I can see a red light up ahead, so I slow down, and downshift into second, but then the light turns green so I apply gas to speed back up, a grinding noise will happen. I hope that makes sense. Also, I need new brake pads and possibly new rotors. I dont want any performance rotors or pads, just regular ones. They also said a power steering hose was leaking, and I had a ripped boot on my rack and pinion as well as my radiator fan is cracked between every blade. So to fix those few things, will it be difficult, and expensive? Sorry for such a long post. Thanks in advance for any help.
brakes are easy. go to link page and look up retailers for parts and twinturbo.net tech pages for how to do brakes.
the heat shield, don't worry about it. Just get under the car to confirm that's what it is.
The grinding however should be looked into. If the steering hose is leaking that could be the cause as your fluid is probably low. Check it and see if the noise continues. If i were you i'd let the dealer fix the leaking hose.
The boot on the rack is simple enough. As is the radiator fan. Look towards the online service manual for guidance. That's also found in the link page.
