as far s i know shop is the only option r12 is posionous and not friendly to the atmposphere i got lucky on my car becuase someone had already refilled it with r134a wich is non poisonous. so i just loosened a pipe on the ac compresser nad let it leak out.check to see if its got the original cap on one of the pipes coming off the ac compresser car if its not blackand plastic and its kinda big and silverish then its already been retrofitted to r134a its safe to let out but i still advise you still try not to breathe it although its not poisonous im sure it could still be bad for your health.

and if its still r12 you could always put a mask on or tie a towel around your face loosen a pipe and as soon and i mean as sssssoooon as it starts leaking refrigerant go inside and wait like an hour before going back out.i wouldnt advise doing any unproffessional dishcharge of the a/c system in front of any one who knows anything about cars becuase im pretty sure its illegal to not have you ac worked on by a CeRtIfIeD ac technician.not sure though anyway...

good luck. BE CAREFUL!

alright!!! it was not original. I rolled the car down the hill and loosened up the conection. it took a while but when i went back and got the car it was fun getting it back up hill due to the fact that my engine is still there and it's nto hooked lol. but i got it out thanx for the advice, now all i need is the engine lift.

Nah! Why close it? This is your swap update thread...keep it going and keep the pics coming to.
I like looking in to see how it's coming along (and it's all about me isn't it?).
Seriously, keep it going and keep up the good work.

If you're replacing the EFI harness, then just cut it. That's what I did.
