My New Z32?!? Perhaps!...

I need all of your opinions on this one:

A complete stock pearl yellow '91 Twin Turbo Z except for an electronic boost controller for 11G. It only has fabric seats and panels, but I'm pretty sure those could easily be changed. I'll just ride up to the northside and gank 'em from Rizz's.

Seriously though, it only has 63,000 miles on it, has never been in an accident, absolutely no dents or rusts, and the guy told me the engine works perfectly and the turbo spools well.

However, he did mention that the tranny sometimes make a grinding noise when shifting from 3rd to 4th. Is that a major problem? He claims it only happens once in a while...

Let me know what you think!

11Gs seems a little high for this car, even if it does have relatively low miles. Did you drive it? Did you have it checked by someone that knows about these cars? Did you check his service receipts to see if the car really has the miles he said it has? Rolling the odometer back on a Z32 is a two-hour job. He should have a receipt for the timing belt job the car requires at 60,000 miles. See what else has been done to the car -maintance wise- and by whom. Why are the wheels on backward? Did you notice that? This could mean that the car is being touched by people that don't know what the hell they're doing. Use all this info. to get the price down, if you really want the car. Forget about the rust part. These cars don't rust, unless you want it to. The gearbox problem is very common, but it is annoying, and can get expensive to fix. You can't cure that with a miracle synthetic oil or black magic. I think you could get price of this car down quite a bit if you wanted to. Good luck, Diego

Yea..I agree with diego...check out all those things and make sure to look at it for al ong time. Take it for a long test drive, etc. But, Copper, that's really clean! the engine is VERY clean. I guess you could look at it two ways..either he took care of it, or he has something to hide. I think it's probably the first one. The wheels are on backwards..I'm guessing he put em on wrong when he got them painted (looks pretty good by the way). Good find and try to get that price down to make it easier on yourself. The grind is a synchro problem. If it gets too bad, it could be a problem and you would need to get that synchro rebuilt.

The engine bay is unreal! Very clean!
I'm not liking the wheels though. Stockers are ok, but black? Yuck, imo.
You need to test drive the car. That's the only way you'll know if anything's going on with the car. If you'd like, I could go and take a look at it with you. Just let me know.
The 4th gear synchro is a common problem with the Z32 tranny. He obviously isn't being very patient with that shift, is all. It's not a major thing but it could develop to be.

yeah the engine bay does look pretty nice, and he has an aftermarket radiator... it looks thicker than than stock tt radiator... looks like took care of it. upper plenum looks like it was polished at some point. is that an original color? i know it prolly isn't but it looks pretty nice. make sure turbo's are in a good shape. as far as the tranny goes, when you test drive it shift it at normal speed and if it makes noise than it might be a problem..the same thing happens to me when i shift like a maniac...it will only happen once in a while, and i don't even remember the last time it happen.... just make sure to ask any question you might think of, and if you have a buddy that knows Z's bring him along, bc i know if you go by yourself you just might get so excited about it that you forget to check everything. anyway good luck, and if you get it congrats

Those don't look polished to me. It looks like it has no corrosion at all. That's the only thing.
The radiator is also stock. That's what a tt radiator normally looks like.
Yellow is a stock color for the Z. It was sold in low quantities. For obvious reasons, I think. Not my favorite color, but any tt in any color would be ok by me.

Ya, I thought that radiator looked just like mine. And you were talking about the throttle bodies being polished I presume. Any updates as far as the TT copper?

Car looks great. Definitely stock radiator, plenum and TB's. The throttle bodies are probably just cleaner than we're used to seeing. $11k may be a bit steep. I paid $12k for mine, but that was almost 5 years ago. Also, did he change out the adjustable shocks? If so, what did he put on there? Are those braided fuel lines? Cool! I have the same problem going into 4th gear. Only happens sporatically under hard driving. Very uncommon to see a TT without leather seats. What other bells and whistles is it missing? How's the clutch? The black wheels have to go. Those are terrible IMO.

Copper, are you sure you're going to be able to handle the Twin Turbo? That a lot more power than your Z31. J/K. Good luck, and remember, if it smells like fish, it probably is.
