heater core anyone?

So normally i frequent the s130 forum, but my brother's got a second gen 300zx that needs a heater core and we are having a hard time finding one. Aftermarket ones are abundant but run something like $380-700 while the list price for the original is something like 170.

Problem is the original ones from nissan are on back order from japan and could take 3 to 7 months to order. yeah, i didn't believe it myself, rediculous. So question is anyone know where i can find an oem heater core for a 90 300zx? I live in the bay area, but would gladly pay shipping from out of state then an extre 2 to 4 hundred dollars for an aftermarket one.

Have you tried AutoZone / Napa / Checker / Kragen?

I did a quick search on Autozone & they show them available online for $171.

Then I did a search on www.car-parts.com and found several at some So Cal junk yards:

^ that works.

There are also several Z vendors that have used parts... while I'm not usually an advocate of dealing with either Z1 or Ultimate Z, they'd both have Z32 heater cores in stock and they could probably ship same or next day.

If the heater core is the same as the heater matrix, you can get second hand ones from the UK for around £50 ($65) plus delivery. Members on the 300zx.co.uk which I'm a member, have always some for sale. During the winter unfortunately, there will always be more motors scrapped.

Apparently the Nissan Primera 1990-1996 model heater matrix (core) works just as good and is not expensive new. It only needs very small modification as its 2mm wider than the 300zx. Worth doing as its 66% cheaper! Pics in the above link

Try http://blackdragonauto.com
Page 76
Part 54-849 $169.95

I personally would not buy a used core. This is new.
