First Real Issue: Running Rough

Ok guys,
I/We knew this car was gonnah be a bit of work, so its been said. Second, Shelby's Z started running rough last night for no apparent (to me) reason.
It was parked in my driveway (down a dirt road), and when we got back in it to head back into town it was running really rough. It dies easier etc. Nothing else seems out of the ordinary. Where should I start looking. I know its asking a lot but I'm just learning. I want to do my own work, I want to know it inside and out. Like I said; where would you all start to look?
Thanks in advance...
Ezra

well... how rough? is it accelerating much noticebly slower? if so... start by seeing if a cylinder is not firing. just go around with the car running and unplug the coil pack on each cylinder and make sure the RPM's drop a noticible amount 300 RPM's about. if on of them has very little or know change. you know a cylinder is not firing.. now test for spark.. pull the coil pakc start it.. ground it out look for spark.. careful they like to shock you to. if its working.. now it could be an injector... you will have to test for resistance so you need an ohm meter.... however if its not your problem all the cylinders drop the RPM's then it may jsut need a good cleaning. there is a write up on twinturbo.net somewhere on how to thuroughly clean your throttle bodies and something else is cant remember... its basically sending sea foam threw the vacumme lines and carb cleaner, very simple. oooo.. also if it is a cylinder that doesnt drop the RPM's clean the injector connection, could be corroded... the connectors can go bad also because of the intense heat these engines create. next if that dont work... you can look up on twinturbo.net you to clean/adjust your TPS that can be it.. it can also be as simple as a broken or unplugged vacummer line.. you got your work cut out for you searching for this problem.. start to workin

ran the codes. cars going to a dealership w/ a mechanic w/ z experience. Its missing on one cylinder (they're gonnah tell me whats wrong with the valvetrain too). $170 + any repairs it needs.

Anyone know if there are laws against telling someone that a car has a clean title when it doesn't? Son of a bitch lied to me.

hmmm... whats on the title? thats why you run carfax call em out on it. sooo if he sold it to you as is. i really doubt it.. but you should call him and call his *** out on that lie....

expect it to be alot more than 170 tell them not to do any repairs till you approve. otherwise they will fix anything and everything and youll be forced to pay in full....

i remember this happening to me a while back. my car started to vibrate and shake alot like on idle and it would turn off if i were at a red light. took it to my friend at infinity hooked up the diagnostics comp and found out cylinder 3 wasnt right. i had to replace that injector. i ended up putting 6 new injectors. good to know people who work on these cars and that have the tools to diag. i was lucky he worked at infinity which they use nissan diagnostics comp. now he works at bmw :-( but hopefully its something else cause injectors are pricey. nissan quoted me over $1,900 to put on. i only paid $150. i'm not saying that is wat u need to do but just fyi. good luck

if a cylinder isnt firing and has compression its either a dead coil pack.. or more likely a dead injector.. or possible **** connector.

Just a heads up unplugging coils or anything else for that matter with the key on can send a voltage spike back to the computer and fry something. This usually never happens but I figured you might want to know. I suggest you use a spark tester if you ever decide to do it yourself. You can get one from almost any parts store.

The car might actually have a clean title in some states you can have a title cleared even if the car was wrecked at one time. I work for a guy that sells used cars and I've fixed them and seen them sold with clean titles. I don't know the exact details but I know it can be done
