Finally... a great Z32 Forum!

Hey everybody. My name is Drew, and I am an auto enthusiast from Orlando, Florida. It's about time to get out of my daily driver, my 1996 Honda Accord EX coupe (I know, I know). I'm a weekend autocrosser, and I've actually beaten a 350Z around the track! That being said, my Accord is a bloated and underpowered FWD Honda.

I've loved the Z32 for years, and am going tomorrow to see if I can pick one up in Tampa! It's a 1995 TT in black with black leather. It unfortunately was involved in a front-end crash a few months ago, and has a Rebuilt title. I'm going to check it out... it is the original motor, and everything from the Radiator forward was replaced. If there's any frame damage, I'm walking away.

It's high miles (I'll eventually rebuild / replace the motor) but its got a new paintjob and a fully restored body. The price is right too.

I'll keep everyone informed, but nice to meet all of you! Hope to join you as a Z owner soon!

Really the wrong thing to say in a Z FORUM... but welcome to ZDriver.

I know, I know. I just wanted to state that in modifying suspension, brakes and transmission in a car can pay off. I know it's a Honda. That was more driver skill than anything else.

All I'm saying is if I could have fun in an Accord, I'll love a 300ZX TT. Hope you guys don't take any offense to that... just thought it was interesting enough to share!

Hope to talk to you guys about a lot!

I'm going tomorrow... anything I should look out for? There might be minimal rust behind a door panel... its the paint being off and its surface rust. Anything else?

I've gotten around Watkins Glen faster than TT's and 350Z's in my 2+2 automatic, and that was before I had Chip, Intake and Exhaust

Good Luck with the Z

That's a concern of mine. I've done some searching here and seen all the engine / turbo / transmission / body / electrical problems there are. Gunna go check it out tomorrow. If and when I get it, I'll share some pics!

crash means CHECK THE FRAME. make sure nothing is bent. i would go as far as taking it to a shop and having them make absolutely sure it is straight.

Interior needs some work. The leather on the driver's seat is starting to go, but I'll have no problem getting that re-covered. Shift boot needs to go, as well as some serious detailing. From the pictures they sent me, I'm impressed with the body of the car. I can't wait to see it up close.

Supposedly the Z has a turbo-timer... so whoever owned it last knew something about turbo cars. That appears to be the only modification, but at least the high mileage engine has had some cool-down time.

Damn this work firewall.... ok, so it looks good in the pics, but they're not very detailed.

I would be weary of the fact that a turbo timer was installed. It may mean that it was installed simply because the previous owner would beat the crap out of it, hence the front end collision. Who knows though.

Another thing is that maybe the turbo time is all thats left When the car was being repaired any other performance parts could have been very easily stripped and replaced with OEM (or worse) parts.

Of course it could mean the complete opposite and the previous owner was just taking care of the car (well, up until he smashed it ) with the turbo timer.

Well I'm back from Tampa, guys.

I hate to say it of a Z, but the car was a total POS. The body panels all lined up, which was great, but the paint was slightly mismatched, the paint on the front bumper was cracked, and the chrome on the "Nissan" logo on the front fascia was gone. And that's just from an exterior look.

Aside from the cracked driver's seat, the interior was in great shape, but then we got the motor fired up.

Aside from a bunch of noises other than the car idling, the smoke from the tailpipes had a tint of blue... as I've read, turbo seals starting to go. For a car with a rebuilt title, they were asking way too much for it, as it stands. I walked away.

I'll keep looking for one for a while... in the mean time, I'll be around learning as much as I possibly can. Sorry for the dissappointment.

- Drew

no big deal. i looked at quite a few POS's before i found my baby. no dissapointment. the real dissapointment would have been if you bought a POS.
