Damn Midas!!!!!!!!!!!
So my buddy takes his car to midas to get something looked at and the dumb *** there yanks the ****ing hood release cable and breaks it. The break is up at the front right by the damn latch. Is there anyway to get this hood open without having to start cutting things like the hood or the panel between the headlights. Its a '90 z32. Ideas? Been working on it alot and know the part we need to get to release but can't seem to get the leverage without cutting sheet metal.

Well it freakin sucks there are three bolts holding the hood release latch in place. Now the latch peice itself is hardened steel so can't really cut through it with the sawzall. Yeah we tried. Can't reach up from behind the latch up and over the radiator to release the latch. Yeah we tried that too. Can't get a screw driver to pry the latch open. Yup even tried that one. Now the latch cable is broken/dissconnected up right at the latch. So when you tried everything else what do you do. You tried to unbolt the latch well theres three bolts and you cant get to any of them through the little crack between the nose panel and the hood. Gotta get the hood open you have tried tons of different ways call tons of different people everyone comes up with the same ideas. No new ideas. No working ideas. So if you have the problem how do you fix it? Well there was only one way left that I could or anyone could think of. Cut the front nose panel completely off (time to upgrade to a stillen panel) removed the MAF and air cleaner cover. And unbolted the hood latch assembly. Wouldn't ya know the cable wasnt broken. It had slipped out of the latch. Reconnected the cable and now the hood works great. Feel bad bout having to cut the nose panel but spent a good 8+ hours on the damn thing. Now have to replace the nose panel and still gotta figure out how to fix the headlights.

the guy that broke the damn thing in the first place shoulda had the decency to offer $ out of pocket to fix it, but since he didnt, you should confront him about it and then if hes got a problem with ownin up to screwin someone elses ride, then talk directly to midas. thats what id do. you shouldnt get screwed payin for all that and all them hours of work.
