Compression & Leakdown test result

i've got the compression and leakdown test result from [ www.zcargarage.com ]. i got this result like 2 weeks ago but i just don't have the time to post. i've been to two reputable Z shops in my area www.zcargarage.com and www.exactmotorsports.com. seem like they only want to do turbos or build the engine. they aren't interested in swapping tranny. so, i found a local z guy who wants to help me out with the car. he used to work at www.mwsmotorsports.com before the shop close down. yeah, i saw him there in 2006. he's also the member of 3zc.com and tt.net under the user name Devi13. his name is rave, i talked with him and showed my z. he recently done auto to 5speed conversion for tt.net member "thehalfazn" he said he can do with the price of $2250 for following things including differential bushing replacement. not the subframe.

Compression and leak down
CYL#1 165 14%
CYL#2 165 11%
CYL#3 170 10%
CYL#4 165 5%
CYL#5 175 8%
CYL#6 160 8%

my z is 94TT auto, 166K on engine. 120K done in NOV, 2006 but only driven less than 2K. i know the compression numbers are not that bad but i'm worring about the bearings since the engine got the high miledge. my question is should i build the engine or just skip and take a chance.

i'll be doing the following things
JWT Sport 530bb Turbos
MSP Manifold
SZ 3" Expansion down pipes
SZ 3" Test pipes
SZ 3" cat back
Nismo 740cc injector w/ 300degree fuel rails
JWT Dual pop w/ new eprom for larger injectors
Blitz SBC I-Color spec R boost controller
Koyo Radiator, Nismo thermostat
HI waterpump pulley w/ new belt (UR crank pulley done w/ 120K)
change to NGK #7 spark plugs
New oem 95 5speed EFI harness
New oem knock sensor w/ harness
New oem 5 speed battery cable
NEW oem Alternator
NEW oem oxygen sensors
New oem oil pump w/ gasket and oil strainer (pick up tube)
replace front& rear oil pan seals (gasket)
replace intake valve cover gaskets
replace plenum gasket along w/ injector o-rings and insulators
replace throttle body gaskets and ACC(IACV) valve gasket
replace the turbo, manifold, downpipe gaskets, oil line and water hoses etc..
replace rear main seal, retainer and retainer gasket
replace (oil filter gasket) to cylinder block and o-ring
bypass the water/ coolent hoses under the plenum
replace PCV valves and hoses or install catch can not sure yet

and i'll be swaping auto trans to 5speed as well using 97+ jspec tranny, 1 pc powertrain aluminum driveshaft, RPS segmented flywheel, as for clutch RPS max 6-puck or southbend DXD stage 5 6-puck not sure yet. not sure about the short shifter Z1 or something? and new N/A master cylinder, N/A clutch and brake pedal assembly set up w/ czp ss clutch line full length. most of the tranny parts are bought already including new 97+ Jspec tranny and waiting to be arrived. bought all new oem.
i still need to buy 1pc drive shaft, short shifter (bought oem shifter linkage assembly but i want short shifter), clutch and flywheel.

what's the best short shifter out there?

RPS or Southbend? which is better. i mean for smoother engagement. only this two brand. not carbon carbon or other $$$$ clutchs.

I know the right way is build the engine first but it gonna cost $$$$. ANY ADVICE???

Get a short shifter from SilverTwin (OH) or Woody75 on tt.net.

As for the bearings, you know you can replace the bearings quite easily without actually rebuilding the whole engine, right? If the engine's going to be out anyway, just flip it over on the stand, remove the pan, remove the oil pump feed tube, girdle, and you can get to the bearings (you may or may not be able to replace them without even pulling the crank).

As for clutches... what about JWT? Of the two you listed, I'm more familiar with RPS (and I don't know of any complaints about them), but I don't have personal experience with it.

And with your compression numbers, don't even worry about a full rebuild... seems like a very healthy engine.

practically, i've never done that kind of work but i see what you're talking about. i'm not gonna do them myself so, i gonna have to ask rave about that.
i think the price he's asking is fair, right? he said he can provide new programmed eprom and hose that required for bypassing coolent hoses under plenum with the price. i don't need to buy them.

JWT is a good product but i prefer RPS or Southbend. i'm learning into southbend more. i'll get RPS flywheel for sure.

Ultimate Z used to charge $3k for a conversion, so I'd say yes, it's a good deal.

But don't believe that him giving you a coolant hose is a big deal... it'd cost you all of $4 to buy some coolant hose at Pep Boys to do the bypass. lol
