Can I get a little help on buying a N/A 300z z32? Wondering if its right for me.
Hello fellow Z drivers and enthusiasts, im a 19yr old college student who works about 20-28 hours a week and am in need of some advice. I would like for you guys to help me map out my idea on buying one of these beautiful machines. So since I am a college student who usually does 9 credits a semester and works roughly 20-28 hours a week i really dont make much money, but i do save and each semester i pocket roughly 2.5g's from school financial aid. So I am thinking, I really would love to have one of these beauty's to call my own but am not sure if the 300zx N/A is right or if i am looking to save for TT. So this car being my first manual sports car, I want to get something that has authority, yet not be a stallion i can't control. So I would like to reach my N/A z to about 300 or so horsepower with the necessary mods being built as a daily(if you guys could list a couple mods that i can do myself with some other knowledgeable guys that'd be great!). Is it smart to buy the n/a and build it or wait to buy a tt and go from there; I want to go with the n/a but I'm scared its not going to get a good bang for your buck. So if I can get some info on how good the n/a engines can be modded that'd be great! Hope to hear from the z community (especially from you Zdriver4lyf, you seem to be very informative in these forums)! Thanks in advance guys!
Buy something cheap and reliable that you still consider fun, save up and after college buy/build a TT. These cars are not cheap to maintain and unless you have years of prior experience with them will be a total headache to diagnose when you have a problem.
I would definitely start out with the NA. I'm a senior in high school and have a 1990 NA, and it's been great and low maintenance. Its pretty powerful too, plenty of kick to it to have fun. The only thing I would look out for is if the injectors need replacing, because that can be costly ($1500+) As far as modifying an NA for more power, its not worth it. If you want a noticeable increase in power, either get a TT or buy and NA and do the TT swap.
The sad part, I have no idea if you are serious or not...
