Boring out the head?

I'm lead to belive that the stock size of the head is 60mm? is this correct? Also, what is involved in boring out the motor and what is the max size that would work on a Z32? What downfalls if any come from doing this?

Don't tell me to "just TT my car" because i've already thought about it and TT's are a pain in the ***, and i'd rather have an extreamly fast NA that will drop some jaws and then later on (when my car isn't my DD) TT it. (Can you TT a Z thats been bored out?) because then it would be a really quick car =P.

The internet is a great way to search & find info on engine mods.

The title of this thread is "Boring out the head" but you're asking about boring the block....

Boring the block means you are machining the cylinder walls to a greater diameter.... meaning you are going to need bigger pistons. Yes... this makes more power if done correctly.

"Boring out the head" isn't really the correct terminology. You can increase the size of the combustion chamber & also the size of the intake / exhaust ports by porting out the un-needed material.

So to answer your question about "what's involved:"

Take your block to a machine shop & tell them you want it bored. Nissan / MSA / VB / lots of places have oversized pistons for the VG30DE. So ask them.
