Im planning on purchasing a 93 NA 5spd ZX tomm.

before i do that i wanted to ask your opinions on the Z and any tips on how to buy a healthy Z.

The Z comes with a VG engine, the same one used in a maxima. The 89-94 GXE maxima have exhaust stud broblems. Does the Z have the same problem cause they share the same engine?
Does the Z have VTC failure.
What does NA 5spd Z run in a 1/4 miles??
Any other tips or comments are welcome.

They also don't really share the same engine from what I've learned. Aparently, there are alot of differences. The Infinity J30 is nearly identical engines. The only VTC failure I know of is the springs whicg get bad over time. Really simple to fix ($5) and there are even some upgraded springs that I belive are used to quiet down the system ($18).
Biggest things I'd look for off hand would be fluid leaks and rotor warpage.

What kind of fluid leakege are you talking about ?

 

In my case it was the power steering that was leaking. Easy fix though

Mine has the same problem but i have to find out where its leaking. Where did u have the problem, how much did it cost you to fix.

 

Mine was the high pressure hose. Caused the alternator to go out plus I believe it caused some bushings to rot out.

i think the power steering pump goes out in all of them mine leaks like a siv. what was the cost to repair the hoses

 

My pump has been fine, it was just that one hose. The hose and the sensor ran me about $175 total. I put it in myself so I can't say what labor would cost.

how much was yours leaking per day before you replaced it?

 

I know my reservoir would be empty about every 1 1/2 or 2 weeks. Sometimes quicker.

it cost me $55 for the power steering pressure hose and about 100 for labor but thats b/c they took there sweet as time i guess when mechanics see the car they auto maticaly think we are millionares or something...haha that would be great to bad im just an everyday working man. but yeah thats about it but if you want to realy know it cost about 875 dollars to replace a clutch, slave cylinder, resurfaced flywheel, and a bearing in the driveshaft was replaced so almost a thou for all that but well worth it my car runs like a dream now...
