Anyone with a 90 Z32 and a security system

does anyone here have a 1990 z32 and have bought an alarm or tried to install a security system?

i took my car in today to see if everything looked ok for the security system and to get some actuators. the guy there told me that with the current security system he would not be able to install a new one on it because if the current one was tampered with, the whole elecrtical system would shut down. he said that i would have to go to the dealer and ask them about something to bypass or get rid of the current system.(kinda sketchy...the only thing i was thinking was damn...more money)

Is anyone familiar with this situation?

same thign tehy told my friend on his 95 and me on my 90. my friend got it bootleg installed and screwed his entire motor over. iono why it messed up his motor though? btu w/e just take it to dealer and get an alarm from a Z33. more expensive but safe.

what? that sounds strange.
are you referring to the stock alarm or some aftermarket system?
If it's the stock one you can just remove the module and install an aftermarket system.
I had both active in my car for the longest time with no problems.

yeah i know this is strange but it forked his entire system over. i believe he has to rewire the entire ignition sistem cause it messed up his ECU pretty bad. so dont;t ake your Z to get an alarm installed over @ good guys ever! i gotta rewire my ignition too. previous owner some how re-routed teh ignition power to that kill switch i had and iono how to get rid of it. the electrician didn;t even wanna mess with it. so is the Dealer my best bet?

so did z_wrecker in his car when i had it.
its the stock alarm
the guy said that if he tried to take it out, it would kill the electrical system.

earlier this year, when i took it to the same place for the second time in a month cuz it wouldnt turn over(everything was fine. alternator was new, starter was new and was rebuilt the first time we took it there just in case, battery was charged)
they replaced something in the security system. they also gave me the diagram of what it was and what they did, but i think i threw that away. but it has started fine ever since

it's a little module with a blue relay attached to it.
Just remove it. it's near the ECU, two screws, two harnesses and it's out.

Damn I wish you guys kived in Denver. 12 volt electronics are the simplest of all beasts. EVERYthing not connected to the ECU is just a sensor connected to a relay. Even alarm brains just control a bunch of relays triggered by switches. I can not think of a single aftermarket or stock alarm on a average car (under $50k)that is intergrated to the point that it can't be removed or bypassed by 5 or 6 wires. I currently have both the factory and a clifford rs 3.5 on both my 93TT and 99 pathfinder. NO PROBLEMS. Get a good installer to take a look at it. The most complicated thing in cars these days is chipped keys, which 90-96 Z's don't have.
