Welcome to ZDriver!

DL a free factory service manual at XenonZ32.com Reference and check out the Heating/AC section. See if the troubleshooting pages have something for you to work from in tracing the source of your problem. Easy to follow stuff.'

Your model/year is a mystery to everyone here - so do everyone a favor. Sign in, go to User CP menu (upper left), click Edit Signature and add your Z model, year, shifter, turbo or NA, etc. Saves you having to add it to every post. (Guys here go crazy if you don't lock your Q to your specific Z every time you post...They just ignore questions without enough info) Then you can click Edit Avatar and add a little Z pic under your nick. Cool? You are solid here.

Thanks and welcome again. Be sure to report back with what you find!

You nailed it, dude! As for other stuff you need, my Z31s operate their air distribution damper doors by vacuum lines (tubes) running from vacuum pump(s). The rubber tubes split and crack over time, leaking air - so the dampers don't operate right unless you replace the leaky tubes. Pain in the butt.

I'm guessing that the Z32s moved on to a better (more reliable) damper operation system, maybe electric, maybe not. I checked the '94 service manual and there are clear heat/AC diagnostic and troubleshoot pages. Doesn't look vacuum-operated to me. I have to assume your '91 manual, if Xenon had it, would have the same pages. At least start there (use '90 or '94 manual) and come back if you can't figure it out.

We do have Z32 pros here but they are slow to respond to posted Qs for some reason. (Rumor is that all that new vinyl smell on the Z32 interior slows their response time... Z31 guys respond faster) They are around and can help you tho... Be patient and see what you can diagnose and fix on your own. Let us know in any case. Your Qs are def welcome.

OK, when the Z32 guys show up here, tell them you have a high-idle problem - no explanation, your Z thinks 2K is normal - plus your dash air distrib is stuck on Defrost. Before they get here, be sure to list any other problems you are working on. They are real sharp and can help. They all used to drive Fords so they know what car problems are all about.

If you can post some pics of your engine bay (and Z) that would be cool. Click on Post Reply and then click on the little paper clip to the right of the smiley face just above the text space. Locate your photos, click upload, and that's it.
