Stalling and sometimes not starting.
Lately my 92 NA has been stalling randomly and sometims not starting. When this happens I found that removing the IGN COIL relay from the relay box on the left side of the engine bay and refitting it cured the problem, but it would still randomly stop. I did a diagnostic check on the computer (flashing red light etc) and it came up with the code 55 which means no faults. Now the other day while driving the car just stopped and could not be restarted, I came to the conclusion that the ignition amplifier (the finned aluminium box on the fwd top rh side of the engine) was at fault. To replace this costs about NZ$800-1200, so I was wondering if anything else could be at fault and could be checked before I go out and needlessly spend that money.
Since posting this my mechanic has found out that the amp is not at fault and is hunting for the fault as we speak.
