That's why you shouldn't take a complicated car like the Z32 to a regular dealership... the mechanics at dealerships aren't anything all that special, and most of the ones who work there nowadays were not around when the Z32 was new.
Either find a good, trustworthy local shop to do the work, or learn how to do these things on your own. You won't have the warranty, but at least you'd have your car fixed properly and in a reasonable amount of time when something broke.

please dont say catalistic converter again, thats like the 3rd time you did it CATALYTIC! catalistic isnt even a word! catalyst is. and dealerships are crap, also if you snapped the timing belt and drove the car while it was dumping oil might have more problems than a clogged cat.
Don't half-*** it Snow,
it is:
warranty, not warrenty
technician, not technican
damnit, not damit
clogged, not cloged
I'm, not im
won't, not wont
ripped, not riped
and the letter 'I' is capitalized when alone.
But then again, it's a forum not a classroom, get over it, obviously this guy doesn't believe in spell checking or following other basic rules of writing in the English language. You correcting a single spelling mistake doesn't help anyone. It doesn't contribute to the forum, it doesn't help the guy that has the problem with his car. If you don't want to help someone because they can't spell then don't help them. At least don't be a hypocrite.

capitalize Please
apostrophe in don't
apostrophe in that's
period after "you did it."
apostrophe in isn't
capitalize catalyst <- part of a sentence fragment
capitalize and
add the word "you" between oil and might

(yes i mis-spelled warrenty on purpose for the sake of the joking on this thread)
its typical from z driver people they like to " put down " instead of help thouse people who are hear to learn about " z " cars ... if the world was full of honest kind and careing people there wouldnt be such awful people who get there picks by putting down people like me . Its ok thou u know why ? real people recognize fake people the fake people dont get a

I would stay away form the stealership at all costs. That's my opinion.
What good is a warranty that you paid for with overpriced labor and parts when it still breaks because they cannot perform their job? It's just ripping people off. Sorry you had to go through all of that.
Then again, owning the tools to do your own work on vehicles can be expensive, and finding the time to do it can be impossible.
At my last job, if you could not do things as simple as fix a leak, you would get fired. I wish they held mechanics to the same level of responsibility in the automotive world, like they do with industrial equipment. But, for the most part their incompetence is fueled be car owners not being educated enough in the first place, and having way too much complacency.
I went to battle for a friend yesterday at the Hyundai dealership. They replaced his engine a while back because it spun some bearings. Actually a rare event for that engine. (I know it's a Hyundai)
But when he got the new engine, there was a bad oil leak from the front of the oil pan. So, he took it back right after bringing it home. Another week rolls around, and they replaced his oil pan with a new one stating that the last one was warped. No biggie. But, a week later is is leaking from the same area... He takes it back, and they claim that the installation of his cold air intake caused the leak. First off, the cold air intake was on the car for a year prior with no leaks before the previous engine seized.
They claimed that because the crank case breather was not under enough vacuum that the crank case was building up too much pressure and blowing out the oil pan seal. He was going to try and tackle it himself, but I convinced him to go in with me so we could all discuss this with the shop lead.
After a short 15 minute conversation with the shop lead, and talking about the basics of Bernoulli's law, we had the car in the shop. And, they were replacing the oil pan gasket with an apology, and a rental car.
They are used to people just rolling over and taking it.
"Make it sound good, and they will pay for it"
"Make them think it was their fault"

i guess i have the only dealership that someone could trust lol. i know the top 2 mechanics there (have my whole life) and they know their ****. oh well, not every dealership can be perfect. good luck with getting the Z running right. i do agree with snwbrder in the fact that you might have other problems than a clogged cat.
Started another thread.
Not all dealerships are out to rob you. I was a little over when I called them stealerships. You can often trust them more than the small shop around the corner. But, you have to go into battle armed with knowledge. You just can't give them the chance to mess something up for your vehicle, and your money.
