Volk GTS MERCURY SILVER INSTALLED

Here are the wheels that I waited 3 months to get. They are wrapped in Toyo T1's. Thanks for talking me out of cheap tires.

Wheels look good

i'm not sure why, it's probably the angle of the photograph + the slope of your driveway but the back end of your car looks like its riding high.

It could use a 1/2 inch in the front (Maybe) and 3/4 to 1 inch in the back.

eibach springs and then your going to need new struts when you lower a car, best bang for the buck is KYB AGX's an awsome combo

not bad looking wheels, though i dont think i will ever like that multi piece rivet crap.

glad you went with the T1-Rs instead of some of those other tires you were looking at. i thought you might like them.

get the 300 deg camber kit too if you use the eibachs.

eibachs and either kybs for a more upgraded ride, or you can stick with new stock shocks and still have the adjustability function

I have the Eibach/KYB setup and I love it. Don't forget the camber correction kit so that you don't run into alignment issues.

How much will eibach springs lower my car? Wouldn't coilovers be a better way to go? I've never lowered a car before and don't want to F this one up.

eibachs will do .8". coilovers are a total waste of money unless you are constantly going to need to re-tune your suspension, like for serious racing. you dont need coilovers.

Well I'm not going to be doing any racing, but I don't know if .8" will be enough in the back and I'm worried it might be too much in the front. The only reason I was thinking coilovers is I could dial in the proper height, but they are really expensive too. Don't let the $100 bill on the back wheel fool you, because I'm broke right now.

did the wind carry away your last $100?

The stock springs might be sagging a bit in front. I think you should install the lowering springs and then if the back isn't low enough, take those springs out and cut a half coil off each one to drop another quarter inch.

lets try to take another approach to the suspension problem.

Lets consider money what appears to be the biggest issue a non-issue.

Coil overs give you a wonderful range of adjustability both height, rebound, and dampening.

I myself have 2 sets of springs for mine 10.7kg/mm and 8.6kg/mm front back and again 8.2 front and 6.6 back.

I use the harder ones at the track and the softer ones for daily driving. I raise the car about 1/2 in between the two sets both front and back. dampening levels are adjusted as per needed.

I do not need a camber kit as my alignment at both heights are well within specs.

KYB+Eibach are good solid upgrades for the Z and offer some adjustability.

Now, lets factor in cost again, cause we all aren't made out of money (SPORTBIKEMIKE) so, here are the costs.

Eibach+KYB+camber kit = about 600$ give or take a hundred depending on purchase price/tax/shipping.

I got my coilovers (k-sports) for 895$ as part of a group buy. the second set of springs cost 200$ for a total of 1095$

so, there is the difference, one is 500$ more than the other.

The teins I saw on ebay were about 1200 if I remember correctly. I definately want to do it the right way. What did you think of Bleach's Idea of cutting down the eibach springs?

i dont think that would be advisable considering the Eibachs are a progressive rate spring.

If you look around

you can pick up a set of FLEX for about 1000$. Cutting springs Isn't a good idea on Eibachs because they are progressive rate. Remember the smaller the movement the stiffer the response. Ever see old Cadilac springs, like 2.5 feet long when not installed.

yeah SPL coilovers look cheap, Specially since they are made by KTS. I mean S-chassis guys tend to avoid them, but if you are looking just to lower the car then you might like them.

BTW my S13 is pretty much sold, and I was looking into some Volk LE37. 19X8.5 +12 and 19X9.5 +22 and I also was looking at my lowering options and I might go with the SPL coilover kit. I have Kei Office Suspension on my S13 so I'll tell you guys if I feel a difference. but then again its a completely different car so I will do my best.

Whats the difference, besides price, between tein super street and tein type flex coilovers?
