So as with guys on here, I am lookin' into buying some rims. My freind is selling his, so i think i mighte consider them. They are 18'( alil' big I know), 245 in front, 265 in back... he had some rubbin' on his 2+2, and do you think with these:

I know spacers are taboo on 300's, but they aren't huge, right...?

 

rubbing on what? where? what are the wheels? widths of the wheel, and offset. and the full size of the tire. sounds like the guy got the wrong size tires

they rub on the inside shoulder, probably on the fender.

Hey I was wondering the same thing. Cuz I wanna put 18's on my car but still want to hav a reasonable amount of tire there and not hav it rub. 17's are all right but jus don do it. And I mean the sock rims are 16's so if your gonna go bigger might as well do 18's. But will they be fine alowing me to still turn fully without rubbing the guards and still havin a fair bit of rubber on them.

 

if youre gonna go big, minus whale go 20s.

depends on the sizes and offsets of the wheels and the tire sizes. find some wheels you like and do some research

 

Just because you go up in rim size doesn't mean you need to go wider on the tire size unless you are racing the car. The factory width should be more than enough to hold the car on the road and best of all they don't rub. Going up in rim size will make the side wall of the tire shorter and a little stiffer, which should make it feel more stable in the turns with the same width tire as factory.

If it is rubbing in the front...just stick with a 225 factory size or maybe a 235, just shop for a tire with lots of grip....no need for a 245 up front. If it were me...235's up front and 255's out back and not worry about spacers. Just my $.02

 

forgot to answer the question...

ive seen lots of people with those wheels and wider tires. you may have a problem with the offset of the front wheels (along with being small)...which may be solved by a different size tire.

is his car lowered?

 

I heard about 20"s being but on a Z and tought they were full of ****. But hey to every man his own. Na I don wanna go crazy its a sports car. I just like the look tha 18"s give the car. and I'd like to put about 9.5" wheel with on the back. I just wanted to make sure I could fit the 18"s and still have a reasonable amount of tire wall without it rubbing the guard. U dont wanna be ridding on practically no tire an hit a pot hole to ruin your rims.

 

youll have about 2 inches of sidewall with an 18" wheel

Well like the guy was saying earlier your tire size jus probably is to big. Someone did mention that a 2" tire wall should be fine on 18"s.
