front suspension problem
hey guys. i am puzzled. i took my car to sears to get an alignment b'coz my steering was shaking at high speeds and during hard braking. so i go back there to pick my car up and the guy says he couldnt perform the alignment. he gives me my work order back and this is exactly what is written on it- "needs right front tie rod and right front torsion arm/trailing arm". he added that the shaking and all was probably b'coz of this. since i was already running really late for my engineering exam i just hurried out of there w/o asking him any questions. later on when i came home i looked at the work order but couldn’t make out what was actually needed. is it the tension rods? i know that i need a RF steering bushing kit b'coz mine is torn. would really appreciate some insight on this matter.

Sounds right. Tension rod bushings are a common problem. SPL Parts a real nice set of adjustable tension rods. The steering rack bushings come as a set. The passenger side is easy to replace. The driver's side is tricky.

The man is right; 300zx's did not come with an adjustable front suspension, while it may jsut be the tension rods as 91zxtt said;however to have your camber also aligned you would also need adjustable upper control arms; how many miles do you have on the car? Also does it always happen during braking; if so theres a possiblitiy or warped rotors but id go with fixing the suspension first

right now i hv abt 102000 miles on it. i had the rotors checked a few days ago when i replaced my pads. they are still holding up pretty good for now. i actually dont need the steering bushing kit but need the dust boot. i mixed em up. so the right front tie rod and right front torsion arm/trailing arm = right front tension rods? the guy also said i would need an alignment after that.

The Tension Rod holds the lower control arm in the proper for/aft position, the Tie Rod connects the spindle assembly to the steering rack to turn the wheels. Judging from the sound of your complaints those are the proper items to replace/upgrade.
Peace
