300 Degree Brake Master Cylinder Brace

Hey guys, I need some feedback,

The other day me and two of my room mates were outside in the apartment parking lot comparing our three Z cars. ( we re in college and there are three of us out of four who own Z32s....we re known as the Z HOUSE). My byddy Alex showed me his 300 degree brake master cylinder brace which I have never seen installed in person. I was quite impressed when he showed me how much the firewalls on these cars actually flexes when applying the brakes. I was also shocked when I saw how much the brace reduced the movement.

My question is, for those of you who have installed the brace..what are your feelings. And if any, what are the compaints you might have. I am strongly considering doing this mod, because I am prepping my car for the 300zx Nationals here in Ga come April.

2. there is nothing negative about it

... what I'm getting at is, why are you even asking? At only $35, if you don't like the results, remove it. But I guarantee you'll like the results.

ehh that is true..the price really isnt a concern. I was more worried about the negative effects of having it installed. I know engineers ( bc I m studying to become one) often design some give and flex into particular items. Im concerned that by having it installed I will be replacing parts or damaging something in the long run.

After you spend some time in engineering you'll realize that most likely the reason it flexes is because some penny pinching accountant told the nissan engineer to remove that $35 bracket because it "isn't nessecary"...but that worthless HICAS system, now thats an execellent marketing tool, so leave that in.

Just 2 cents from an engineer tired of penny pinching accountants who dont have a clue.

Cool your an engineer?! Where did you go to school? I m attending Southern PolyTechnic State Univ. here in Marietta, Ga...

Yeah I understand what your getting to bout the penny pinching accountants playing a big part. LOL. And yeah I dont particularly care for the HICAS either. I have it on my TT and I cant stand it. I prefer the steering on my NA.

I went to Nebraska, ya the football school, but the engineering program is actually really good. Got my BSEE in 2003 and now I work at a Nuclear Power Plant near Omaha, NE. Penny pinching isnt quite as bad at the Nuke plant as it was at my last job.

But not adjustable like the 300degree so your part better be right and in factory specs so it fits. I was actually looking at that one bc it is cheaper though.

actually it is adjustable.
instead of having a screw that's adjustable on the front, the adjustabitlity comes from the mounting holes. It can be slid back and forth cuz the holes are oblong.
there's alink around here somewhere that shows it uninstalled. Probably the vendor page.

Whoa there pardner....yas been havin a rough day? Of course my part is right, in factory specs, comes polished, brushed or chromed and still beats the hell outta the other ones price! $21 shipped! Yep, one Washington and a Jackson.

Man i wish i would have gotten back in this forum sooner. I havent been on in a few days. I already ordered an red anodized one from CZP like 2 days ago. And I got it last night. YOur design looks good though.

I don't mean yours, i mean the one on the car it's going on...

Also, wouldn't those screw holes just make it slide back and forth, not front wards and backwards liek the 300degree one. It was my understanding that the tighter the BMC the less spongy pedal you would have, but some people may choose to tighten the BMC a little, but not as tight as it can go bc they like a little pedal slosh?

This one should be tightened down nicely. I would rather have a responsive pedal than a slosh anyday. But as you wish, this one does the trick by far. Nice and shiny,too! For those who like a little bling!

i could make one of those for a lot less than 20 bucks. i think i might do that, stiff beats mushy any day.

I like a small amount of mush for when I'm on a road corse or something similar and there is SOMEONE RIGHT on my ***, I like to tap the breaks a few times before I get ready to heel toe so they don't smack me, thats the only reason i like a SMALL amount of play.

Yeah, my lights come on the instant I breathe on my brake pedal, but the brakes dont start grabbing hard for mabye an inch or two

Yeah but mush and play are two different things. You can adjust a small amount of play into the pedal for the purposes stated above. It's freeplay. But mush in the pedal is all negative IMO.

But I agree, I like to have a little freeplay to mess with to get the lights on before I actually start engaging the brakes. You can make your brake pedal stiff as can be and still have some freeplay in the pedal before engagement. But once they do engage, it should be nice and firm, no mush.
