Anyways, back to the car....upon further review,....I'm guessing that's a '96. No HICAS. No VTC. Looks nice, but if it is a '96, it's far from one of the premier Z's out there. Nice stickers.....that adds 20 ponies easy.

The car is a customers Z that is currently sitting in Z1 motorsports showroom. It isnt a '96 i think. the came gears are TOMEI units, the same as russles '90 TT Convertbile. They deleted the system i think. As for the open timing belt, i think it looks good for show, but thats about it. It would be costly to leave it like that when driving on the street.

What would the benefits be of those cam sprockets? Downsides?

The car runs a nitrous system and a boat load of other upgrades. Specifics i dont know exactly. The gears are marked with tick marks, s each cam is adjustable for timing purposes. I dont know what the downsides would be for not havint the VTC. For thaat matter, isnt the VTC on the rear of the motor. On the end of the Intake cam shafts. The only thing they elimnated was the VTC tensioner springs and part of the Intake cam oil galley. Something else to notice is that the clutch pedal bleeder is missing, and so is the HICAS The car started its life as an automatic non turbo. Z1 converted it to the beauty you see here. The bleeder is still there, its is just under the car near the slave cylinder bleeder.

Z1 has more info about the car on their website:

http://z1-motorsports.com/imageGalle...album08&page=1

It is owned by Mike Vale, and it is a '91. It makes 704 RWHP and is runnin the HKS GT2530 turbos with HKS Twin power ignition system. The Nitrous system is rated only for a 60 shot, so I assume it is for the turbos only.

either bardabe or whtfairladyz, you need to change your avatar.
differentiating between you two at a glance is becoming a chore.

anyways, here is what my engine bay looks like right now...ha
PCP sent me 2 of the right side intake pipes...thamn people
i didnt notice it until i had installed the right pipe, and i didnt feel like taking that one back out, so i just put the stock left pipe in. the paint doesnt match very well(it looks like sky blue in the pictures ), so i think i am gonna get a different hue to better match the hoses...and the pic where some faggit did a hit and run

The Z32 comes factory w a system kinda similar to a BOV, but it is called an air recirculation valve. It helps release the pressure of the air being pumped through the intake pipes. When at speed, your throttlers are open being forced with air from the turbos. If you suddely take your foot off the pedal the turbos DO NOT stop spoolin immediately. The air pressure will build and cause a surge that may return to your turbo housing. Just like detonation, it can prematurly wear out parts or completely destroy your turbos.

That car has the HKS SSQV BOVs (alot of jargon), all the owner did was remove the factory units and replaced them with those. Where the factory units may cause the 'goose honk' sound, these will give the noise any HONDA or N/A guy fears...the whistle of a BOV. As for the placement, WHERE ELSE WOULD U PUT THEM! There isnt any room to put them any where else.

I know cause I got my butt handed to me last night when i decided to play w a TT supra unknowing that it was a TT, he down graded the outside appearance and made it look like an SZ-R NON Turbo supra. It wasn't a pretty sight.
Then I got waxed buy a local shop's car..get this a '93 Nissan 240sx hatchback running a RB26DETT. I wont talk about that one, that wasnt pretty either.

The BOV's can go in the same place as the recirc valves. Zdude is doing that. I'm considering it. I think it looks too crowded in the engine compartment.

Sry..i didnt look at the other pics. I dont think it really matters since the surge pressure will go through all the pipes. I wonder where is the most effective though the intercoller to throttle body pipes or the tubo to intercooler? I wonder which would make the BOVs louder? Hmmm..

I don't think it matters. From the turbos, through the IC's and up to the throttle bodies is only about 5 feet. That entire stretch of tubing would be pressurized.
