i have had the light showing that there is a burnt out light on the dash ever since i bought my car.. i put the jspec tails and clear corners on.. and i still have that light on.. the only thing i can think of is that 300zx on the center piece of the taillights ??? IS that SUPPOSED to light up when u brake or when u have the lighst on??????

You need to change the bulbs in the tails lights over to the USDM spec bulbs. The JDM bulbs cause the dash light to come on.

 

And the system is very sensitive. I've had to go through several new USDM bulbs to find a combination that returns a resistance that the burned out bulb indicator likes.

 

Ur sure? cause the lights work fine... do you know what the bulbs are like product code ??? i have all the bulbs from the original lights i an switch them over.. i guess i have to switch the front clear corners as well or NO?? they came from stillen, don't think they are JDM, maybe?

 

My Z had the same light coming on when I was on the brakes. It took a bunch of money and inspection and about 4 months later I found out what it was. In the back where you open the trunk at, there is 4 little lights that are your brake lights and parking lights. That is what lights are out.

 

I have no idea what you just said. Can you state that again?

 

i had no twin turbo spoiler when i bought the car.. i now have put on a kilmari stock look alike with a 60 led brake light on it.. would that be why that light was on.. giving adifferent resistance

 

Could be. I had the same problem with my 3rd brake light. One of the small bulbs was burned out and it drove me nuts b/c it looked like they were all on.

Yes the JDM lites work fine but as 91 said the resistance is the problem, you have to use US spec bulbs. That's not to say you don't have a brake bulb out too.

 

^^ It's true. Your bulbs will work fine but whenever you hit the brakes your warning light will illuminate. Resistance is different. I'm glad when I install my new tails tomorrow I won't have to worry about that since I have a JDM.
