Turbo

Hi
New to the forum and new to working on z31s. Have a question about the turbo trimmer adjustment resistor for an 84 analog booster gauge. Is it still possible to get one at the dealership, or should I look in a junk yard? Thanks

Turbo trimmer

Hey again. Can’t find this turbo trimmer anywhere. I’m not even sure I’m on the right forum to ask the question, there’s so many. Anyone who can help me with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You’ve posted to the correct web site and forum. It’s for the z31 which is Nissan’s code name for the 1984-89 Nissan 300ZX.

I have a 1984 300ZX turbo with digital instrumentation so my car doesn’t have an analog dashboard’s turbo trimmer adjustment resistor. Ask a Nissan parts dept. guy what the part no. is and whether it can be ordered. Most likely the resistor is NLA (No Longer Available) from Nissan because the car is 37 years old. If that’s the case, then ask if the turbo boost gauge is still available to be ordered and get the part no. Again, it’s probably not available. So try then by entering both part numbers (the resistor and the gauge) on google and see if someone is selling it on ebay, craigslist, etc.

If it’s only a resistor and not part of an assembly of parts, you might be able to buy this resistor from an electrical parts store. Note the resistor’s ohms by the color banding.

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing. Just get a variable resistor and splice it in. Haven’t noticed any color coding on it though. Will look under the magnifying glass

Have questions about z31 turbo

I have a 1988 z31 turbo with 14,000 miles on it and was curious what it might be worth to sell.
