Speedo Cable

Folks, has anyone else replaced the speedo cable? I have an '85 NA 2+2 with analog gauges. Is there a generic part out there that will work?

Could the cable have been pulled out?

DORMAN 10104 trim to fit. I haven't done it on a 300ZX but I have on other vehicles.
