overheating

I'm aware of the many threads on here pertaining to this issue. I've read through all of them and still cant find an answer. i have a 86 300zx t with minor modifications. i have revamped the entire cooling system. installed dual electric fans, new radiator, water pump, did a leak down and pressure test and everything checks out. also replaced hoses. I pulled some codes and a code popped up for fuel temp sensor. i did some research and found that the sensor controls the advancement and retard of the timing. i know that retard timing causes an engine to run hot. but my question is could this sensor cause my car to overheat. I've run out of ideas

FTS is only used above a certain fuel temp, otherwise the ecu ignores it.

Could you expound on "overheating" ? When does it overheat?
When did it start overheating?
Every time since?
Have you checked the temp at the upper rad hose compared to the lower rad hose?
Have you checked the timing?

Please be specific about what is going on and what you've checked. That will help us help you.

i apologize for the vague information i provided.it first started about 2 months ago. so first thing i did is bought a new thermostat. as soon as i did that all hell broke loose. i couldn't even drive my car 5 miles without the temp shooting up. so i went and replaced the water pump which helped because the old one was shot. then my car started leaking coolant on passenger side, inside the car. so i removed the heater core and bypassed it for the time being. the car still overheated but it took awhile for the temp to go up. i then converted to electric fans and replaced the upper and lower radiator hose. i haven't checked the timing yet and i just purchased an upgraded radiator which is better than the factory one i just put in there. and the upper radiator hose is roughly the same temp as the bottom when it gets hot. the car holds proper operating temp for a good amount of time then once it starts to get hot it doesn't cool down. i don't allow the car to operate above normal operating temp for to long so i don't ruin my engine.
thank you for your feedback in advance, it's greatly appreciated

U can buy a new part that can be faulty check that thermostat u bought, cause that's when the poop hit the fan. Also I don't know poop, but I can help u! Get ur running and u might have to google how to do this, but I think the car is supposed to be at operating tempeture or cold? And thermostat open but not sure. Grab that top hose its gonna be hot and u should feel the water flow when u squeeze hard then let off slow! If u don't feel the water flowing u have a clog! It probably a good Idea to flush youre system like with a pressure hose to make sure its flowing and not blocked somewhere u might have to google that too! Sorry but I don't know poop but ill always try to help a fellow z owner! And don't give up! These cars can be tricky. And its not the fuel temp sensor u don't even have to have that connected!
