Im new to the forums and recently bought a 85 300zx. It has the digital dash and a/c unit with the "top of the line" radio for its day i would guess. (wasn't born when this car was made) anyways the dash works fine but the radio and a/c show no life at all except for a few times they lit up for about 5 seconds. I have cleaned all the connections and aldo resoldered the power supply under the dash. I'm kind of at a lose. Is the whole unit just junk or what?

It's quite possible that the radio has just gotten to the end of it's life. The radio in my 280ZX worked good, when it worked. It had an intermittent connection problem where it would randomly shut off. You'd be better off getting a faceplate and putting in a headunit.

yeah thats what i figured it was coming down too. still have to replace the climate control unit also since its no better off than the radio but thanks for the help. these cars can be tricky.

my climate control works...sort of. The thing works, it just seems like the vents don't work properly.

well the manual defrost button works on mine but thats it lights dont come on or anything. imma prob grab one from a junk yard or something n see what it does.
