My 85 300zx NA is hesitating

I have noticed recently when I start my Z she runs a little on the rough side stalls, I start it again and she runs and then she is fine when she is warmed up, at times warmed up though she hesitates, or better yet sound like she is putting at 2500 rpm could this be a timing problem, water in the gas, TB problem ? I tuned the car up completely 6 months ago, and recently replaced the rotor and cap due to the humidity down here in South Florida . Is there any answer to this problem ?

Hey man its Z or nothing else !!!!! I would rather walk if I couldn;t have a Z. I did try fuel injection cleaner and how many times should I repeat this with the cleaner ? I do use premium, and besides I ride the scooter to work everyday, the Z only is driven 200 miles per month.

Sounds like your fast idle isn't working properly. When the engine is cold or warming up a regulator allows more air into the engine to compensate for the extra fuel the car uses while warming up. If the fast idle isn't working then the car will run excessively rich which will make it difficult to idle and will run really rough. Once the car warms up, the ECU stops dumping that extra fuel and so everything normalizes and the car will then run fine. Could be a connection, could be the valve itself. Either way, I'll bet that's your problem.

For exact location you're going to have to ask one of the Z31 guys. It's been a little while since I've been under the hood of a Z31. But it's generally referred to as either an Air Regulator or Fast Idle (Control) Valve.

I hate idiots who bring politics or religion to a car forum. If you think Bush single handedly caused gas prices to go up, you're freaking retarded.
