The steering wheel is not locked, it is a 1984(5) 300zx. The guy at the dealership said it had worked fine with a little jiggle of the keys....but now its just frozen. All 3 keys won't turn it, Im thinking about just buying the car outright with a $300 cash offer (since hes asking $500) How hard would it be to change the whole switch and just have a new key?

Also, are these cars fairly easy to work on? Also he says the car will fire, but you have to keep the gas down for it to run...he said it was the TPS..I know thats just 10 mins worth of work....So it would be nice to get a running Z for a few hundred and a few hours of work....lol

If I can get it fixed...rest assured Ill have some Z31 parts for sale at crackhead prices!

 

I have that problem with my z31. I just left the ignition alone and worked on other crap on it, I tried to start it after a few days and the key turned with no problem.
A friend of mine said that the ignition lock may be linked to the steering.
I'm going out to work on it today, I'll let you know if I find a solution.
