Angry Half-shaft replacement!!!!

Who here has actually replaced thier 300zx's CV half-shaft?

I needed to replace my passenger side unit this week. So, I ordered the part. Had to wait a few days for it to get here, since it was not a normally stocked item. I rent a lift in a garage, yank out the parts to allow me to remove the axle. And finnaly remove the part, after 30 minutes of cussing at the shock mount bracket under the swingarm. Upon installing the new axle, I'm noticing that it won't "click" into the retainer within the rear end. I didn't think anything of it, until I go to bolt up the outer end to the wheel shaft. It's about 2" away from the mating flange. So, knowing that it's a CV joint, I know it's got a little bit of adjustment. I pull on the shaft and it won't reach without pulling out of the rear end. I played phone tag with the supplier's tech support. And I measured just about every aspect of the bad and new axles. Noting their differences. And by the end of the day, it boils down to....... The right side is for the left, and the left side is for the right.

Has anyone come into this problem in the past? Or are my axles that much FUBARed?

You probably just got a mis-boxed part. It happens ALL THE TIME and it totally sucks. Try again

Not really. The tech support guy and I went over the dimensions of both part numbers. And the one I need, is for the opposite side. Which didn't make much sense to me. It's just working out that way. it's almost as if my differential is on the opposite "offset" as it should be.
