Fuel Pump Relay..after the car's started...

Hey everybody, I just bought a 86' 300zx n/a a good couple of months ago. Once I got the car home I realized that he had run a wire from the fuel pump connector to the distributor plug in. With it attached, the car runs great (a little cold to start but i just gotta keep it alive till its warm.)

So, i decided to remove this plug in attachment and do a permanent fix. Well, I'll turn the car on and hear the fuel pump kick in, then it will start no prob. Once its started, the car idles for a few seconds then dies. I go to restart it and it just cranks over, no fuel pumping action. So in order for me to start it again, i have to turn the car off and start all over.

I'm pretty sure this is the fuel pump relay that tells the pump to continue working after the car is started. Although, theres no relay in the relay box under the hood, and the relay under the passenger side is for starting......Where is the relay that tells it to continue working???? Or is it something else?????

Any help is appreciated......

Which "fuel pump connector" are you talking about? The ecu connection? The relay? The fuel pump itself?

That first pic looks like the stock wire being spliced into is Black w/ white stripe? That's a main power wire. Have you looked that wire up in the Haynes manual? Please say you have a Haynes manual... or any manual for the car.....

Yeah I got a haynes manual, I've looked up the relays but not the main wire no.
Keep in mind that i've removed that splice so that it is no longer there. But however the car runs with it so....

Well, it goes into the fuse block for ignition coil and fuel pump, from there it goes into the ignition relay, continuing on the the ignition switch and ending at the R.H. side 73M.......

So, wheres my ignition relay and ignition switch.....
