Engine will not start
I have a 86 turbothat I have been restoring for the last 2+ years. It has been my daily driver for the last year. I have replace the the following
1. radiator
2. self adjustable shocks (all around)
3. repaired A/C unit and charge with freeze 12 (works great)
4. replace all hoses including vacume lines
5. replaced chts, tps, maf, cas, and timing belt, acc
A few days ago I notice it began to idile around 14K so I adjusted the dist. and she went down to 1K. I switced her off and started her up and she's back around 14K. Clean the throttle body and check the tps, still she's around14K. The her for a spin and she amost died on me idle around 500. When I finally got her home she wouldn't start. I notice that when I turned the key I could not hear the the fuel pump. Now all she does is turn over with no start. I check fuse and connection the pump and have 11.60 volts. After a few minutes tried to start her and nothing. Pump comes on and stop after 15-20 seconds. I decide to drop the tank and check the pump. Applied voltage to pump and it works everytime. My qestion is , could the ECU cause the pump not to stay on. And if so are the ECU specified for turbo and non-turbo. Or could there be another problem? Sure could use some help.

The fuel pump is only supposed to stay on for 30 seconds unless the car is running. you only need three things to make a motor run, spark, fuel and air. since you tried adjusting the distributor instead of finding out what's causing it to idle high.

For those who have been following this post. I found that my MAF sensor was bad. Install a used one from a N/A model. The only issue I have now is the response from foot petal to throttle. Seem to be some hesitation. Will try injetor cleaner and see if that will help.

^ I would say your problem now. Would be putting an N/A MAF on a Turbo. I know they are different on the 280zx. So I would imagine that they would be different on the 300zx. So I would try finding or buying another Turbo MAF. Good luck
