Warm engine will not start
Ok guys I'm new to this. Just got a 88 300zx. My problem is when the engine is warm the car will not start. Starts fine when engine is cold but after it warms up and I shut it off it just won't start back up. I've replaced the fuel filter new plugs new coolant temp sensor and new o2 sensor. Here's the weird part. I was messing around with it and could hear the fuel pump running and thought maybe it's just flooding out the engine. I unplugged the fuse to the fuel pump and it started threw the fuse back in and it runs. No clue what would cause this. Any help would be awesome.

possible your ignitor (power transistor) is marginal. when it gets hot stops functioning you diddled around long enough for it to cool off and it worked again. Get some freeze spray and if it happens again freeze the ignitor. if that makes it start you have solved the problem. put a fuel gage in the fuel ring and see what the fuel pressure is doing. Most common temp related gremlin on the z31 is the chts. when they get funny causes any number of odd reactions.

Welcome to ZDriver! Sounds like your Z needs some attention and you will be giving it some of that. You are just catching up on basic maintenance that wasn't done by the previous owners. When you finally get it running the way you want, you will be hooked for life. Nothing on the road is like a Z!
For starters, you have a copy of your Factory Service Manual (FSM) - or you can download it from XenonZ31 Reference There are other good docs there, too, so DL 'em all, read and keep 'em handy.
Take some time to get familiar with your FSM organization and check out the inspection & troubleshooting sections for the stuff you want to work right. They are step-by-step, easy to follow. Everybody here uses their FSM all the time and will refer you to it.
Be sure to post some pics of your new Z for us when you get a chance.
Thanks and welcome again!
