Question Drivetrain issues

Okay.... I'm 99.5% positive that my clutch has gone out.... I can replace that, but before it went out, my Z wouldn't allow me to burn out in 1st gear....

Let me say that my car was a gift to me, a 287k mile '86 300zx with t-tops and the borg warner 5 speed. it needs a major tune up which I'm not doing. I previously listed it for sale but have now changed my mind. Anyway.... can anyone tell me what might be the cause of my problem....

I tried several times, revving to 4k RPM's and popping the clutch.... the car sputtered and would not accelerate worth a damn. I suspect that it's probably on account that the car has so much mileage on the original clutch. But I need to know if it's my differential, clutch, or transmission.... or god forbid a vaccum line to somewhere.

I'd really appreciate some insight if any of you have any for me.

JD

burnouts serve no purpose other than breaking **** and making smoke, which, if there is more of the latter, can be pretty cool. you have quite a few miles on the car and burnouts are probably not the best thing for it, and a broke *** car doesnt look very cool. i would guess that you have at least a few problems with that many miles.

Indeed, burnouts on any car with that many miles on the same clutch is NOT very smart. Most, if not all, z31's have a lot of miles on them unless the motor has been rebuilt. If your car is not modified enough to handle burnouts then you are gonna end up with your problem. You cant just pop the clutch on a car with 200,000 miles and expect to the car to salute. It just doesnt happen.
