The community project Z guide

OK first off I am new and this is my first car that I was allowed to modify. So I am most likely doing something wrong and I don't know it, but that's why I am asking for your help with this 1987 300zx na. I almost have the car completely stripped down and by completely I mean it. I know this project is going to take a few year and around like 20,000 dollar w/o paint but this is what I want to do along with documenting every rebuild step.
Goals
1. Z32 brake swap Front and back WORKING ON IT
2. LSD
3. Coilovers
4. VG30dett swap 400bhp
5. Custom dash with custom electrical systems
6. A lot of little extras too.

I want to know what else you guy think is a good idea to add to my project and what you guys may want to see. I am going to document everything I do and post it maybe with how to videos. BTW I learn quickly so send me any info you think I should have. Thanks to you all.

Why are you wasting $20,000 on a Z31?

Its not wasting $20,000 on a Z31. It will be faster then any stock Z32 and good parts aren't cheap because great cars aren't cheap. But its more about the joy of working on a car to make it your own and to make it something special. Then even if that's not enough justification for you the majority of the parts I will be putting on my Z31 are really for a Z32 so I could just buy a rolling chassis of an Z32 and transfer all the parts any way.

Right now I am working on possible rear brake swapping options if someone has the dimensions distance between the mounting holes on Z32 rear brakes and could give it to me that would be great.

I've gone g37s rotors and calipers along with s15 rear suspension and stance coilovers all round.
Its a big project modding your z31 to this degree, so you need to make sure you have enough passion for the car, otherwise will end up another of those abandoned projects you see all the time.
For an insight check out my build to date here: Californian S3 2+2 Gtrz15 Build - 89 Z31 Rb26/30 Engine - My z31 Build - AU Z Driver for Australian Nissan Z enthusiasts

Good Luck..

I can't imagine any of that costing $20,000! I mean, unless you are severely overpaying for the parts, or are trying to compete with the GTP Turbo, you can do with a lot less. I'm not saying you shouldn't shoot for the moon, but you should really consider what you plan on doing with this car. Honestly, for any project car, that is the first step. That being said, what do you want out of this car?

Performance? Comfort? Looks? What do you plan on doing with this car?

It's easy to get carried away with a project, especially your first one, and that's something I think everyone on here can atest to!

I was mainly overestimating to the max on this car when budgeting and I know I can do it for way less but the car is not in the best of shape. What project car isnt. I only own it for 250$ and my main goal for the car is a performance car that kinda looks good and has alot of cool... touches that I have planed. I am working on my parts list again now that schools is coming to a close for me again and I have more time. Once its finished I will posted it and hope for some feed back.

Also thanks pauls for the advise and your link to your build. I really want to stick with this car because with out it all I have to do is design stuff on soildworks and I can do that all day.
