Hi guys,
I wached this forum for awhile and have picked up useful tips for others helping with problems. However now I have something that been kind of frusturating. So I have 1987 N/A and all of the backlighting for the dash has gone out along with the dome light, the floor light and the light around the key hole on the outside of the door. I originally thought it was a fuse since there was an obvious power surge the day before with the interior lights flicking.
Unfortunately for me it was not a fuse or a fusible link as I have checked. The next step for me is to start checking wires, since the chap i purchased the car from left a lot of the electrics in a huge mess. I was hoping someone could possibly point me in the right direction. Thanks so much!

down load the fsm. buy a vom. start tracing wires. if you take the fsm to kinkos on a thumb drive you can have them blow it up to 11x17. makes it more readable. look thru the fsm they put small circuit diagrams thruout the manual which often make it easier to determine problems. xenon z31 or something like that do a google. Contact the guys at the portland z club they are a friendly bunch and usually willing to help out. I think NWZ again do a google

double check the fuse for cabin lights. that one controls a lot of that stuff. don't just look at the fuse check it with a vom.
