air conditioning

ok im not very good with ac to begin with. i want to take it off my Z. it is still good and works but if im not mistaking it hasent been upgraded to the r-134a its still the r-12 system. i want to take it off the right way, i can follow all the lines to figure out where they all can be disconnected but i need to know the proper way to discharge the system. all help and advise is appreciated.

To properly remove it you need to first take it to an a/c shop & have them capture the R12 Freon. If you discharge it into the air, you will kill about 42 birds, 16 seals, 2 whales, and enlarge the Ozone hole by about a mile. That's why R12 is illegal these days. But hey... just driving kills the Ozone, so yeah....
