What model is my car?

I brought my 300 not to long ago and unlike most 86 300z’s it has an RB20, also it’s a unique shape, so being interested to find out more about my car so I did some google-ing and I found this site and I was wondering if you guys can tell me what kind of model it is.
I've attached some random photos of my car.

Welcome to ZDriver.

Sounds like it's a 200zx. From what I've heard, it's strictly a JDM car. Where are you from? And since you are posting pics of the car... why not post one about the subject here.... the engine

There's been one on ebay for a long time now:

if it's original, thats a 200ZR (not X) 2+2. pretty cool. i cant tell from those pics too well, but it kinda looks RHD. if it's not, then its just a 300 with a swap. the quickest way to check this is the windows are they manual or power? pics of the interior and under the hood would help.

I've seen them going for sale in Australia as well (imported of course). It's got the ZR hood scoop, but that's not neccessarily original. Whats the vin #?

There was a 200ZX. But it was an S130

Yeah it has power windows, the wicked thing is I hooked the alarm so when you arm the car the windows roll up automatically. I've attached pictures of the engine and the interior.

that would be a 300ZX with a rb20 in it then. the placement of the intercooler leads me to believe that the motor came from a 200zr though.

Top mount can be found on a few cars. WRX would be at the top of that list of common applications.

Comes w/ learning about cars! Porsche has very well engineered turbo setups.

Top mounts have been proven to be VERY efficient. It's all about making sure the air is directed through the intercooler. Of course there are size limitation with a top mount though which is why more of the higher boost cars that were top mount gets swapped to a front mount. Other reasons include looks (some people like to scream "Turbo" ) and then there's the fact that it sits on top of the engine and can get in the way. On front engine cars it can prevent the addition of a strut bar as well. There are plenty of drawbacks to the top mount, but effiency isn't really one of them when it's installed correctly.

WTF?!?!!

The 200ZR came with the RB20. That's a 200ZR. What's this 300ZX with an RB20 crap?

it was my understanding that the 200ZR was not availlable with power windows. and the steering wheel is not the 200zr wheel. however, i could be wrong.

i thought the 200zr wheel looked like this

You can swap in power windows, and steering wheels are easily exchangable.

Ah well cheers for looking that one up for me. May I ask are there any benefits from 200ZR to a 300ZX? If so is there also much key differences? Apart from the obvious rb20...

no benefits. the 300ZX was a level up on the scale from the 200ZR.

lol, another car with a top mounted IC is a Mazda Rx7. My friend, who owns one, said he wants to relocate it. something about how its not very effiecent becasue the heat of the engine will lower its potential. maybe we are wrong, but hey, Whatever. nice car either way. but yes, check the vin that will stop needless questions.
