At the front of engine bay, very close to the headlamp, there is a black box that has two vacuum lines connected to it, there is a third that has a blue stripe on it, but its disconnected from the black box (is that normal). My z in an 86 non-turbo model. So my question is, where do these hoses end up at, because they all are broken/disconnected at the other end, near the right side of the battery, hence I believe this is the reason that I have NO airflow in the interior of my car, which by the way makes driving during a downpore really nice seeing how I have to leave my windows down, or pull over. (No Defog)
PS if at all possible could I get pics of where these hoses go.

ok, very weak vacuum pressure
ok, i think i have the blue striped hose to the plenum figured out, the plenum is the y shaped junction that is to the right and above the EGR valve. Now theres suction coming from the plenum, is this supposed to supply the vacuum to the vacuum resevoir by the headlamps? Then from the resevoir the other 2 hoses, 1 goes through the firewall (the red striped one) and the other 1 (the white striped one) goes where?

Not sure how your car could have caught fire from those hoses. There is nothing flamable ever running through them. It's air in the vacuum lines and water going through the water ****. Only thing I can think of is the hoses to the fuel pressure regulator are wrong and the FPR started leaking. But even that is far fetched.Originally posted by HeRo ShiRo

And the reason you have hot air always coming through the vents is because there is a vacuum leak, or the hoses are not hooked up properly.

what is the FPR and where is it located??? it wuz strange to me too outta nowhere tha heater valve started burning..

hey thanx for that link, now how do i de-pressurize the fuel system ??
If it helps, I just replaced every inch of vacuum hose under the hood of mine with silicone hoses so I have a pretty good idea what goes where. That canister is a vacuum reservoir for the climate control. Lets the valves for your ac/heater system operate a few times after shutting off the engine.
Have no idea how you could catch one on fire unless it got too close to the exhaust at the rear of the engine or the EGR.

What is this piece that i have marked on the drawing. On mine it's just a typical plastic splice connector, is this thing some one way valve? Does anyone know what it is?Originally posted by ZorroZ

I don't seem to have that on mine. A one way valve is a good guess. Those are usually shaped like a disc with a inlet tube on each side. Originally posted by Lakesidez

As long as we're talking hoses here, the best quick fix for a older car is to cut off the last 1/2 inch or so of each line and re-attach them. (assuming you have enough slack in the hose) The ends usually stretch and harden that way. I had a couple hoses on mine that I thought were PVC they were so hard.
