My passenger window will not go down using the switch, but it will go up. If I straight wire the motor it will go down so I know the motor is working. I pulled and replaced the relay that goes to the power windows and that was not it. Any ideas?

 

If window works fine from the passenger side rocker switch, you have a dirty or dead switch contact on the driver's side. Clean or replace that switch.

the switches tend to fail after a time. could be either side. If you pull the switch and you are a good tinkerer you can disassemble it by using a lot of caution and not a lot of force. once apart you will see a bow spring that needs to be pushed down to make contact. I did one by bending the spring more but the fix i used that I feel is more elegant and more likely to work is to put a drop of solder on the spring where it makes contact. that makes the spring essentially thicker at that point so not as much depression required to make contact. or find a junker take that switch and hope it works. take both sides and those little plastic slider pieces that break and then make the opener mechanism not work.

 

I forgot to mention that the switches stopped working a long time ago. The switches have been disassembled and that is how i have been using them for about 10 years now because I refuse to pay the price for new ones. Any more ideas?

 

i'm having a similar problem with the passenger side window. it was working fine, went down one day and doesn't want to go back up now. both the driver's side switch and passenger switch don't make it roll up so i assume it's the motor. when i press the down button on the passenger switch it sounds like it wants to go down more (can hear a slight load change) but nothing on the up button. i'm thinking the motor is done for. still need to pull it out and mess with it though.

 

Steve has some at reasonable prices, at some point most things will wear out and need replacing.
