OEM Cassette Repair

Hey everyone, new to this site and read through a bunch of the posting. Found a few about cassette player repairs. I did respond so some of the posting with additional information I found today but thought I would pass the information along with its own string for those you may have missed the other postings (heading didnt reflect the issue directly).

Symptom
85 Nissan 300ZX with a OEM radio\ cassette player. Radio works perfect along with all controls. As soon as a tape is inserted power is cut from system. I have lights on the controls for forward, rewind when pressed but not motor activity.

Possible Repair Option - Confirmation in progress.
I found a company through referrals from several other repair companies who indicated they could not repair but thought this company might be able to. I called and gave them the specifics and they felt they would be able to repair. They will need the actual part number of the system to confirm. I will need to get my VIN tonight and run a check to collect part# or at worst pull the radio to get it. Once I get any confirmation I will let everyone know. I have also included the company information below in case some of you already have your part# available and want to check for yourself. If you find out before I update this posting please update the group on this string!

United Radio- 800-634-8606
Repairs are out of NY and GA.

Will keep you updated.
