Oddball distributor question?

Oddball distributor question?
Oddball question, I'm sure, as I haven't really had any luck searching for an answer. Probably my wording.
I have an 85 NA. It's always run kind of crappy since I've owned it, but it also sat for many years before I bought it. That's for another topic, this is distributor specific.
On the top of the distributor the numbers are throwing me off. If we stand at the drivers side fender, the numbers on the left side of the distributor read 1, 3, 5, which seems normal. On the right side of the distributor it reads 2, 6, 4 (I would expect 2, 4, 6, no?).
If I look at the connection of the plugs, I can see that all of the wires correspond correctly, except 4 and 6. I see wires on the right side going in this order ..
Cap number 2, plug 2.
Cap number 6, plug 4
Cap number 4, plug 6.
Basically they are in linear order on the engine from front of engine to back, but the distributor numbers are not linear. Make sense?
Are these caps not accurately marked?
If it's confusing at all, let me know and I will try and edit that picture with some information. Thanks!

I ended up solving this. The spark order is 123456. I found another post online stating to check it with an ohm meter, so I did just that. I don't know why I didn't think of it, but I haven't worked on a car with a distributor in ages.
Anyway, while checking this item and looking at my new rotor vs the old, I can tell a lot of my issues came from the distributor. The plug wires for 4 and 6 were reversed AND the connection between the rotor and cap was probably barely there, considering the build up of carbon on them.
I have a new CAS on the way anyway, so I'll wait to install everything until it comes. Might look into a new cap as well.
