New Z31 TT idea
Yeah I guess when you put as going for the 200ZR theme then it makes more sense to go with the RB20. Are you sure it only weighs 60lbs more than the SR though? The SR is all Aluminum AND two less cylinders. The RB is an iron block, has two more cylinders, and on top of that things like the manifolds are going to weigh more. My assumption is based only in those theory's but it just seems to me the SR would be more than 60lbs lighter.
imput = input
(sorry, that one caught my eye for some reason)
So wheres your shop at? I may be coming back out to VA in a couple of months in the Chesapeake/Suffolk area.

hey there all, I have been gone a while, lots of work and trying to piece together my turbo.
by the way, the most famous car to drift.. even to this day is the
1986 toyota corolla.. aka hithatchi, I know I mispelt it..... due to the perfect ballance of the car and ps... it is way under powered. It is the best car to learn how to drift, because it makes you rely on your skill as a driver vs the power of your engine.. just some thing to think about.
now back to the subject that started this whole thing
Do tons of research, I myself wanted twins, but remember...
1 big turbo is better than 2 incorrectly set up turbos, here, let me quote corky bell, the expert in my opinion. ( never mind too much) I will just sum it up,
reason why you should not...
reason #1
if you have two turbos, it will cost more money. in that case, one large turbo (that is equal to the $$ amount of the 2 turbos) will out perform those. the reasoning
There is less back presure from the larger one vs the two smaller ones, back pressure kills Turbos.
reason #2
you have to "CLOCK" your turbo. If you cant, you just wasted time and money.... stay away from intergrated waste gates, you can not adjust those.
reason #3
why take away your driving time from a car that aint broke? you sit there and try welding splicing ect. you might goof then poof, all that money has to sit longer, if I were you, go get a spare wire harness and manifolds from the junk yard, that way you already have plan B and a reference to the original.
reasons why twins are better
reason #1
the 2 turbos will be superior to the single when it comes to V engine design due to the fact of the manifold design more power focused to the turbo.
reason #2
2 turbos will increase air flow example, 2 2 1/4 inch pipes will allow more air to flow vs 1 3" pipe.
reason #3
even thou it will cost more, 2 turbos will out last 1 turbo, ( if both the twin set up and the Single are treated the same) the twins share the abuse from the exhaust while the 1 takes it all.
Some pointers I learned while I was researchin...
-If you go twin or even single, WRAP your exhaust!!! the hotter the air is when it gets to your turbo, that faster it moves!!! but remember more heat can cause damage if not taken care of correctly.
- PUT A GOD D@%* turbo timer, there is no excuse to allow your money just fry when you park your car and not allow the turbo to cool. I have not even driven my car out of the shop and it already has a timer.
- run seperate pipes for your waste gate, better flow.
more to come later
ps, I miss this forum, and I am almost independent on the turbo stuff.
also, let me know if this was helpful

Well noted! My idea simply, as I've said before, gives a better way to flow the gasses. Anybody with enough dough can have his own manifolds custom fab'd... but, if you're tight on cash and determined to go TT, hell... give it a shot. I too preffer the likes of a single turbo set up... And it's true... two turbines are much more expensive to maintain than one. But, if you take care of your vehicle, filter the air to the turbine, supply it with clean oil, shield it from as much of the heat as you can, you'll have a fairly reliable turbocharged car.
Blah... look at what my ideas do to you people... Eh hell... It's your car, do what ever the hell you want with it...
