Is it just me or is the new z really hideous?

I think it has a lot of possibility, same with the Sentra SE-R.

How can you say that? Eclipse on steroids? Did any of you see it in person or look at the specs? This is an amazing car that will fit nicely into Z heritage. It has an absolutely amazing presence in person even to people that didn't like the pictures.

I love my 84, I will love my next, and I will love my 03.

I personally like the new z look but there are many that don't. Like with most "new" cars, there are lovers and haters.

It's not that bad, but give me a 240z any day. The new zed should have looked more like old ones, i know they have move forward, but it still should have more ressemblance

 

I agree, I dont like the looks of it at all, but the specs are great. Id buy it just for the performance. But I will stick with my 86 turbo for now.

 

I'm going to have to wait until I actually see one in person. I can't tell you how many times a new car was shown in magazines, etc. and I hated the looks. Then, when it finally hit the streets, it was a whole different story.

The other problem with judging it already is that the final body hasn't been done yet. Even small changes done to the car are going to make or break the looks of it.

So, you can say you think the prototype is ugly, but wait for the final car to hit the streets before passing any final judgement on it.

not only do I agree that it is hideous, I have an 88 zx myself, but t-tops are not an option, that's what really is appealing to the z, in my opinion.

 

Hmm... that sounds like a plan.... They're out in August, right? Well, if no one else has by late September, I'll drive my dad's TT up to a Nissan dealer and take pics of his Audi parked next to a 350Z if they have one. They are different looking cars IMO. Similar, yes, but I see more similarities between the 350Z and the G35 than I do with either of them and the Audi TT.

now, you gotta admit...there are some similar lines there...and if you put a spoiler on the z, things get a little blurry...or maybe I smoke crack? I don't know, I have heard so many people say..."Nissan copied Porsche!"

 

wow, never looked at them like that. And, that's about the only angle they'll ever look that similar IMO. But then again, I never really thought it looked all that much like the Audi TT either. Porsche has the hood/trunk (the thing in the front) that sits lower than the rest of the fenders. You can't really notice it in that photo, but it is very much there.

Similar? Sure. But I see lots more similarities between the 350Z and the Celica than I do the 350Z and the 911. But that's just me.

Its gonna be funny.. it may look ugly to you guys now, but I'm sure within a year most if not all of you will come to love it. Its kinda like that pontiac aztek.. it is ugly as sin, but once it actually hit the streets people love the damn thing. (Its still ugly as sin imho). Same deal with the 350Z.. I agree it should look more like a Z instead of the rather strange form it has, but thats Nissan for ya. Look at the Infiniti line.. they've got some pretty outrageous stuff there. But since I dont have $60k to toss, or even $30k for a 350, I'll stick with my 82ZXT.

Personally, I dont like its looks now, but I'm sure it will grow on me. BTW.. wheres the t-tops? Hell, even a sunroof (although it wouldnt be Z) would be welcome.

I know I'm a bit late on this one, but I just had to say it. First, it looks to much like the Audi. When I first saw it, I was mad. But then when I saw the '90, I was mad then too. (That was until I drove it) In short I'm gonna have to drive one to see if I'm gonna like it or not. Some say it looks like the porche. In a round about way it always has. (Z was porche's cheap competition at the beginning until it got too expensive) From the supposed specs I think that if any of us drive it, we'll feel that same feeling we get from our current Zs. The handling, the kick, and I hope she still squats when she takes off. If not, then I'll say she's not a Z Although what has turned me on more than anything was in the picture galleries, there are three people in the 350. But if the second year doesn't have 1) turbo (twin..triple..hahah) and 2) (the most important factor) T-TOPS!!!! I'll be sore with Nissan til the end of time.. haha

 

I think its a beautiful design. If you take all the z's ever made and look at theyre evolution, youll see that this new Z was destined to look the way it does. It got bolder and rounder as it aged. I wouldnt compare it to an audi, you really cant. If you do, compare the VW to the audi and then start comparing bmx bikes. Its really pointless to compare with out looking at its history.

I like the t-tops but they dont belong on a race car. I dont mind it being optional.

 

I saw the new 350z about 4 weeks ago. I have to say its one very beautiful car. It has nice flowing lines. You can see traces of the past Z's in its design. I think Nissan did a great job. I would buy one in a heart beat.

T-tops not suppose to be on a sports car?!?! Well yea, if all you're gonna do is race it on a track. I'm not. I want to profile. So it should have T's... (Of course a hard top should be an option... That way we both can be happy with our own custom made Z's)

Oh, and I have to admit that I am liking it more an dmore the more I see it. Actually, I want one. Although I'm not gonna trade in my 87. (That's because I want one of each generation..hahaha... Yea.. Right after I win the loto)
