and if you figure out a way to defeat physics and standard volume laws SURE you can get 4 seats in a 2 seater.

Yeah, to point it out with more explanation, the 2 seater is shorter in length and height (in the back) than the 2+2 so... no

Did you expect Nissan (which is also made in Japan... just like Honduh & Mazda) to be different? There's nothing super special about a Z31's design. It's not a Ferrari.

Lots of things... Rust, someone jimmy'd the door, broken / seized tumbler, frozen door lock motor, bent lock or handle rod.... etc etc etc.

I just fixed this on a friends Z31. the latch mech was rusted solid. I tried to clean and lube it but ended up replacing with another one i had laying around.

the door issue was just extreme rust. i got it fixed. also took it to a shop to get checked out. and need quite a bit of engine work and what not. my exhaust is rusted all the way back to the cat. so i need a new exhaust. needs a tune up which i'll do myself when get money to buy the plugs wires and cap. also a problem that i need fixed now is that my e brake doesn't work? i can pull it up all the way but it doesn't pull the break. could this just be a cable?

You should check out the rear tires and see if the cable is ok or not

I could see how the thought would be in his mind, especially working with mazda. In my mazda RX7 I had the back seats removed and the cabinets or whatever you call them installed. They look exactly like the ones that are in my 86Z. The question did pop into my head but figured theres no room because of that little lip that is just in from of the cabinets.

That little lip can be removed with taking out a few screws! But like someone said before the 2+2 is a whopping 14 inches longer. if you look at a picture or at a 2+2 you can physically see the diffrance in the back.
