Hey Im new to the forums, I currently own an 86 NA 2+2 300zx. I work at a nissan dealer as an up and coming mechanic. One guy there is an expert on these cars and has helped me get mine running great since ive owned it.

If you guys have any questions I can ask him and he usually has a pretty quick answer.

Anyway, have any of you had sluggish cold starts or low idle/stalling when cold (morning start ups), waiting for me air regulator to come in (300zxpartsforyou is a great site) it is what i was told the problem is. Hoping it fixes my problem. Anyone else with this experience?

 

86 NA 2+2 Auto

First-I just received my air regulator and i noticed that it is slightly different than the one on my car. The one i was sent me has a black (square) cover with 4 screws and the one on my car is a sealed circular metal piece. Are they interchangeable? Got the parts from 300zxpartsforyou.com


Second- I was driving home today and i noticed that at any given speed or RPM the throttle would be completely unresponsive, and after a few seconds of giving it gas it would eventually kick in. Any ideas what this could be?

Why didn't you order the part from the deal you work at? I worked for Nissan and got dealer cost and free shipping.

Did you check the air regulator part# to make sure it's the same one for your year?

As for the throttle problem, have you checked the ecu codes?

 

havent checked the ECU for codes, and i just found out the AR are interchangeable. I get a discount on parts but i figured $30 used would be cheaper than through the dealer.

Do you have instructions on how to check the ECU codes?
