Ok, first off, I want to thank everyone who is a part of this forum. You guys/gals are a dream come true with the support to the Z community. Now, without further adu, on to a couple questions. First, when I decide to go hot rodding I go from first to second and if the rpms are above say around 3500 or above then it will grind going into second. Now I do notice slight resistance going into 3rd, with even less into 4th, and barely any if any going into 5th. So I've been told that this could be the linkage cable. Is there any way I can tell for sure before I go replacing parts? Second, my reverse lights don't work. Has anyone had this problem and how did they fix it. My best guess is its the "back-up light switch" but if there are other possibilities let me know.

 

pretty much means your syncros are shot. and the reverse problem is either the switch or any of the wires leading to it.
