Question i want to be stiffer

I replaced my shocks, but when i dump the clutch a tad bit to hard i bottom out, i fether off im ok. i want to stiffin up my back a good bit, the only springs i found where on z31parts.com, but they are just lowering and im not wanting to lower.

would a 5" or 5 1/2" spring rubber work on my factory springs to stiffin up ?

Tokico Illumina shocks on the highest setting. That **** will break your back it's so stiff.

Bigger sway bars with poly bushings will stiffen it up a little.

call up any major spring manufacturer and tell them the dimensions and your spring rate and they should be able to make you a pair or set to your specs. also by looking at parts made specifically for your make and model you are going to miss alot of potentially usefull parts.

Tokico Illumina are 5 way adjustable for rebound rate but you'll still need stiffer springs. ST springs are a good alternative to the Z31parts springs but are still a lowering spring. Use Eibach springs myself.

Yeah, I want some ST spring myself. Don't get the Tokico springs that they offer as a combo package with the Illuminas. They pretty much are softer than stock!

Front and rear rates, respectively...

Suspension Techniques 200 lb/in 226 lb/in

Tokico 150 lb/in 165 lb/in

Nissan - 84AE + 86T 146 lb/in 188.2 lb/in

whas the stock spring specs ? are they a 5" ect.... and the loading rate...i replaced my stuff and still it sucks on launch....front wheel drive has got it made compared the stock z31 haha... **** on wheel hop!
z31parts.com has the lowering springs but i dont see in spending the money on them because all i want is stiffness, i run a 1/4mile and its low enough for me right now, if i can open the door and touch the ground im ok ya know? im doing the autocross sunday and im already having problems. i broke a tierod end yesterday and split a boot. my luck is suckin !
you fix one thing something else is going to break.
but ne ways if you can get me the specs on the stock springs let me know yo...

I'll sell you a set of good turbo rear springs, if you're interested. I replaced mine, but it made no difference. I was just thinking it would have less camber, but it didn't change a thing. I really just wasted my money. The springs are as good as the brand new ones I spent $350 or so bucks on. (From Nissan) With Tokicos I have no more wheel hop. Everyone always told me new subframe bushings were the only cure. Not so. Your shocks can definitely be the culprit, if they're shitty enough, and stock shocks are shitty at best.

What's the best lowering spring kit to go with? That you guys have actually experienced and can comment on the product. Im about to begin a total suspension upgrade on my 85. getting the whole suspension off a 88 turbo but the springs are pretty much shot.

Best setup imo would be:

Tokico Illumina shocks
+
ST springs

I ran the Illuminas, and I loved them. I didnt like the Tokico springs that came with them though. I had full polyurethane bushings and 1" sway bars too.

I was asking $170 (shipped) which is about half price of new, but I'll consider any reasonable offer. Shipping ain't gonna be too cheap, unfortunately. I no longer can get deals through work. Not sure what that'll cost. They only had about 50K miles on them when I pulled them. They're pretty fresh, still.

I would highly recommend saving up for the Tokicos. I posted a link to a place that was selling them for about $380, shipping included, somewhere around here. I have mine on 3, and they're still too stiff for me. I've been meaning to soften them up a bit more, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I don't know why anyone would want to lower a car that already sits so low, and has non-adjustable negative camber in the rear. Unless you plan to modify it and fix the camber, you're going to eat the insides of the tires even more.

Not if you stay under an inch. Eibacks are .75" lowered and I've been running them for over a year with no problems with tire wear.

I see. Why lower it if it's only .75? Is it just for stiffer springs at a lower price, or do you actually feel a difference in handling? If I wanted stiffer springs, I think I'd get some SS springs and leave the height alone. With Tokicos, it's already stiff as hell. I actually need to set them on 1, I think. They're set on 3 right now, and it's a pretty rough ride.
