How do I remove the camshaft?

I have the Haynes manual and FSM for the Z31. Can't find a spot that tells how to remove the camshaft. Do I need to take off the cylinder head and rocker arms to get to it? or can i just get it from the front and rear? Please HELP!

Alright, this is really easy. Pull upper plenum to get the driverside valve cover off, pull off both valve covers, set #1 at TDC, pull the front covers and the timing belt, remove dizzy, pull valve covers, remove rockers, remove lifters and lifter guides, remove cover plate on the back of the head, remove the bolt in the back of the cams, and slide the cams out gently.

if the gasket is in good shape no...if its rotted then go ahead and replace to save you some headaches.

So I got down to the camshaft after taking off the valve lifter guide. The retaining bolt at the rear of the camshaft won't come out. I think the head is getting stripped. How do I keep the camshaft from rotating while trying to unscrew the retaining bolt? Do i even have to remove the retaining bolt or should the camshaft just slide out?

UPDATE! Just got the rear retaining bolt out. Now the camshaft slides about a centimeter but will not pull out of the front. It sounds like it is hitting something, like it is being blocked from the front. Any Ideas?

My bad, I totally forgot about the cam seals. Remove the cam gear and you can use a pick to remove them.

Thank you guys for all your help. I was able to (with extreme force) get the rear retaining bolt out. Then I used a hammer on the rear of the cam and knocked the oil seal out and the cam was free to move out. Now time to buy one and put it back in. I'd put up a pic of what my old cam looks like but I don't have a camera. Trust me though, the gear on the cam is FUBAR! Bad. But thanks again all.
