I recently rebuilt a Maxima block to replace my 84 Turbo engine. I'm having trouble installing a pilot in the maxima crankshaft. The Maxima was an automatic and my Z is a manual. I'v tried all pilot bearings listed for Maxima's and Z's but none of them fit!!! Is there something i need to do to the Maxima crankshaft to install the pilot bearing???? I noticed Last night that the Maxima crankshaft has some kind of plate where the pilot bearing should go.(The maxima was an automatic so no pilot bearing.) It look like this plate is used to keep the pilot bearing in the crankshaft. Is this plate removable??? Any ideas how to remove this plate??? The pilot bearing won't fit thru this plate but it looks like it can be removed. Has anyone ever come across this problem??? I NEED HELP??
